miniSynth PRO: Let There Be MIDI

We created a video to show an awesome new feature in miniSynth PRO 1.4: USB MIDI capability! This will be available in iOS 4.2. Check out our video and let us know what you think!

  1. I've got the exact same keyboard set up, but when I try the midi control, the software acts like it never gets the note-off events. It will play a note, but never stop playing it. After hitting 10 keys or so, it stops responding. The mod wheel still works, so I know its still receiving information from the keyboard. Any ideas?

  2. Follow-up: when I plug it in as shown in the video here, I get a "the connected usb device requires too much power" message on the ipad, so I have to go through a powered hub first. Thoughts?

  3. Couldn't use LPD8's CC commands to control miniSynth Pro. I suspect it only works using an USB-MIDI thing.

The iPad sees it because I see them in Midi Monitor!

  4. Heh, another follow up. Seems my M-Audio Oxygen 49 isn't the same as your M-Audio Oxygen 49 - yours is a third-generation model, which doesn't have an external power input, and has the mod-wheels up top. Mine is an older generation model with the mod wheels down by the keyboard, has an external power input, and is overall a bit longer and bulkier than the 3rd gen. I'm guessing the 3rd gen model requires less power on the USB bus which lets it plug directly into the ipad. So, time for me to do a little shopping I guess. :)

  5. I got a brand new 3rd gen M-Audio Oxygen 49 today, and it works perfectly with the app and the Camera Connection kit now. Yay!

  7. This is cool but...Please add Akai synthstation25 support to MegaSynth! I bought it based on the sound sculpting but would actually use it with the controller support!

  8. I too cannot stop notes from playing when using an external keyboard (M-Audio Keystation 88es). Also, if I turn on velocity sensitivity, everything quits-even the soft keyboard on the iPad. MidiMonitor shows "key off" just fine.

  9. Has anyone been able to get this to work with the m-audio radium line midi/usb keyboard (using external power source)?
